Gary formed the non-profit Mabel Norris Reese Tribute Fund to raise money and awareness for a sculpture to honor the small town journalist who, in the 1950s, continually placed her life at risk to speak out for civil rights in segregated Florida. Few than 10% of statues in America are dedicated to women and by leading this community effort, Gary helped even the odds.
